We will have our first meeting of the 2026-2027 year this Wednesday 9/2 at 7-8pm at Mill Creek Elementary. This meeting will welcome any scouts visiting to potentially joining, new scouts joining the troop, and scouts returning! So plan to attend this meeting with your scout. Of particular note we will have:

  1. A brief court of honor to award merit badge earned by scouts attending summer camp, and
  2. A parents meeting for interested, new, and returning scout parents to outline the upcoming year of scouting and the transition to a family troop.

Theme: Court of Honor + Parents Meeting + New Scout Orientation Setting: Indoor — full troop + families | Duration: 60 minutes

Time Block Detail
0:00–0:05 Opening Color guard posts colors. Scouts leads Pledge of Allegiance and Scout Oath. Brief welcome from SM.
0:05–0:20 Court of Honor — Summer Camp Merit Badges SM calls each Scout forward. SM presents merit badge(s) with one personal sentence per Scout. Parent pins badge. 60–90 seconds per Scout — keep pace.
0:20–0:40 Parents Meeting SM presents 2026–2027 program year: meeting schedule (Wednesdays, 60 min), 5 overnight campouts, 3 courts of honor, advancement focus (Scout → T → 2C → 1C), rank timeline targets. Distribute printed program calendar. Q&A (5 min max).
0:40–0:50 New Scout Orientation Leaders pulls new Scouts and families aside. Cover: handbook, patrol assignment, how advancement works. Distribute S-6a/6b child protection pamphlet — must be completed at home with parent before M2.
0:50–0:55 Patrol Introductions SPL introduces each patrol. PLs stand, name patrol, give patrol yell.
0:55–1:00 Closing Retiring of colors. SM: “Next Wednesday — bring your handbook.”

The Mizzou Merit Badge University is a great local opportunity for scouts to potentially earn 2 merit badges. The number of merit badges offered this year is fewer than previous years, therefore we want to register as early as possible to get first choice for merit badges, and registration opens soon, 8/15! So let me know if your scout plans to go and see the notes below about picking merit badges.

    • There are a fair number of Eagle required merit badges offered, do check them out, but do be aware they may require prerequisites that your scout may, or may not, be able to meet.
